Dave Carlson has been a performing / recording musician for over thirty years.
Over those many years, he has performed as a vocalist, guitarist and drummer for many Los Angeles and central coast bands. He also performs for other artists as a vocalist, drummer, percussionist, backup singer and guitarist for both live shows and studio sessions.
Dave Carlson’s first solo effort “Live From The Guestroom” is a collection of songs written by Dave over the past several years. As implied by the CD’s title “Live From The Guestroom”, the entire contents of the CD were written, recorded, produced and mastered by Dave in the guestroom of his home. Even the photography for the CD and the CD booklet were developed by Dave as part of the project.
Dave Carlson has a very distinct sound all his own. His songs are straightforward and honest, lacking in any attempt to create something trendy or mimic anyone else’s style. The music is dynamic, flows well and the lyrics are well crafted. Dave Carlson has a full rich voice, a wide vocal range, smooth harmonies and can vary the texture of his voice to suit the occasion.
The end product “Live From The Guestroom” is a body of work that is honest and un-pretentious, offers a variety of emotions, lyrical depth, musical textures and manages to keep the listener interested.
