……A word that describes “a musical collaboration that creates music on the spot that “travels” from one musical thought to another with a passion or electric intensity”. The 3 musicians in this collaboration create this free music on the spot with no preconceived ideas or discussion. It is only the listening and immediate sonic interactions of these skilled artists that creates these seamless sonic art pieces. This current set of pieces were conceived, as heard here, live in the studio direct to disc. Minimal editing or sonic tricks, as can be performed with today’s technology, were used in the mastering of this CD. Eclectricity, a free music collaboration, has just released their 1st CD “Anomolous Material”. After a number of years of experimentation, the time was right to document the sonic and aural abilities of this group of select musicians. As the liner notes state “ It is only the listening and the immediate sonic interactions of these skilled artists that creates these seamless sonic art pieces”.
Eclectricity is comprised of 3 musicians, Gordon James, Mark Sorlie and Glenn Olson. They all have a passion for music that is unconventional, sonically traveling from the vein of John Cage all the way to James Brown and everything in between. The music scampers from theme to theme with humor and dynamics. The sonic journeys are completely improvised and the skill of the musician’s listening and interactions are apparent.
