East Coast based, leader/composer Charles ''Rahmat'' Woods says: "My previous CD was a musical tribute to Jazz great Roy Haynes (''Modern Music Therapy'' RAHMAT SHABAZZ #ASR020), and many of our fans asked me when we were going to record some of the original compositions we perform during our varied sets. I decided to produce some of this work in the intimate orchestration of a contemporary Jazz duo. Arnett Studios of Washington, DC met my criteria, and we were able to construct a recording that is refreshing, relaxing, and a pleasure to listen to".
About the Music:
TAHIRA AND ALI (THE WEDDING SONG): was written for the wedding of a beautiful couple. A wedding is truly the bonding of two persons...two families...two worlds. This composition represents a loving dialogue, and a hope for a joyous life of love and respect.
ELEVEN FIFTY NINE : This song represents the peace which one may feel at the completion of a mission.
LITTLE GIRL: concerns for our children''s future prompted me to write this tune.
TIME IS SPACE: ...a movement of silence.
