12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Psychedelic, ROCK: 80''s Rock

Details:
`the rainfall years´ plays a melancholic and mellow kind of music, mostly with long, slow and spherical songs.

Air, space and time are vital elements in the music, and extended, dreamy and expressive passages are highlighted along with a very detailed and harmonic feeling.

The unique and personal sound `the rainfall years´ presented on their debut album, `33rd of March`, (on World Serpent Distribution) is further underlined on the new album - entitled `disautumn´.

The songs are mostly build up quietly with pictureque and elaborate moods, and then slowly introduces the trademark melodic reverb-guitar, the tastefull and multilayered keyboards, the unconventional bass lines and the very experimental drum/percussion patterns.

Altogether generating a highly personal and emotional univers, that goes for something comtemplative and timeless rather than what the trend dictates.

Lyrically the band works in a quite associative and uncommon way. The lyrics are generally more like words/sentences that creates a mood instead of narrative stories, statements or "truths".

Working this way, `the rainfall years´ uses the vocals and the lyrics as an integrated part of the music and the over-all atmosphere - unlike the common rock song where the vocal lines usually acts like a solo element.

Extracts from reviews (translated by D.O.R.Y)

"...eventhough one can hear inspiration from people like David Sylvian, Cure and This Mortal Coil, it is clear that The Rainfall Years are going for this own sound - and a good and personal one it is !"

"..sad and moody music are always in danger of getting too much or even pathetic, but this band really touches a string...." "...a very honest emotional album that offers more and more for each time heard"

"...this is a record for the sophisticated and intellectual, but it will certainly also appeal to the black-clad youngsters around the world"..." a mature release with substance and impressive craftmanship - ideal for those who still cares to sit down and LISTEN to music.."

Biography.

`the rainfall years´ were formed in Haderslev, Denmark in the early 90''s by guitarist/singer Lars Skaanning and keyboardplayer/singer Jesper Kruse.
Soon thereafter they were joined by drummer Søren Büchert and with this line-up the band recorded their debut album "33rd of March" which was released on British label World Serpent, known for acts such as Current 93 and Coil.

The album was well received by the critics when it came out in 1996, and the band played a string of concerts in the following 6 months.
In the spring of 1997 demos for a new album was recorded, but due to personal circumstances `the rainfall years´ decided to take a break away from each other.
Skaanning and Kruse both went on with musical projects and Büchert studied music at The University of Copenhagen. Two years ago the three founding members found themselves all living in Copenhagen and they teamed up with bass player Kaspar Boye Larsen to write and record a new album.

The album came to be called "disautumn" and it was recorded and produced by Morten Büchert at his studio Snookumz.
The new record was released on the bands own label - called Woitovitz Recordings - in early spring 2003 - distributed through Voices of Wonder/ VME.
