Details:
Brad Taylor lives in the Bay of Plenty, NZ and makes music under the name Redwood. He is a renaissance man with a passion for music. June 2007 saw the release of his debut album, Redwood. That record was/is hushed, intimate, melodic: a indie folk treasure which, with its unaffected candor and depth, found fans throughout New Zealand.

NZ Musician: "Redwood’s folk rock sound has a distinctly mellow quality that brings to mind country railway tracks and days when life just wasn’t so busy. Pour yourself a glass of wine, snuggle up and enjoy"
Bay Weekend: "Creates an intimate mood that carries the scent of a smoky, darkly lit back room folk club filled with an attentive air."

The recording of the self-titled debut album took place in a spacious commercial kitchen, set amongst a tranquil kiwifruit orchard in the Bay of Plenty. Brad used his diploma in audio engineering to engineer, mix and produce the album. “We just set up the gear and tried to record most of it live in a few takes. It made for a more organic vibe throughout.”

Between now and the first record, Brad spent a fair amount of time on the road, both solo (touring together with Matthew Pickering in 2007 and alone in 2008), and with a band. Redwood have
played or toured with Teacups, Stormbird, Ivy Rossiter, Bear Cat, Dear Times Waste, and others.

Singles “Into the Night” and “Jezebel” have slowly made their way into the airwaves of NZ radio, with “Jezebel” making it’s debut at #278. A music video was also released for “Into the Night” showcasing the intimate quality of a Redwood performance.

No grand gestures here, just music the way it should be, with heartfelt performances by an honest musician. Listening to Redwood highlights Brad''s instinctive feel for words and melody; one that allows him to emote stories of love, loss, faith, or the absence of it, that are at once personal and universal, set to music that is both haunting and timeless.
