If you''re looking for Rap, Hip-Hop, Alternative, or Main Stream Top 40, then keep looking. This is not the CD for you. If you''re looking for songs that can make you smile, make you think or remember something from your past, then buy this CD.
Randy Randel has been around for a long time writing and performing. This is his 8th CD and the first one he is releasing on a mass level. He has performed in Europe, as well as in the U.S. and prefers small venues to have more interaction with his audience. This was scheduled to be the last CD, but he is already being pursed to record at least one more.
All of the songs on "Quest for the Philosophers Stone" were written by Randy and recorded at Raney Recording Studio in Drasco, Arkansas. The CD was produced by Randy Randel and Jon Raney. The studio musicians on this "Quest" include Mike Kennedy (long time drummer for George Strait), Doug Deforest on bass & backup vocals (has played with Garth Brooks & Alan Jackson), Robby Springfield lead guitar and steel guitar (has appeared on just about every major record label), R.P. Harrell keyboards (voted into the Branson Hall of Fame for keyboards), Tim Crouch violin, cello, mandolin, and acoustic rhythm guitar (5 time Arkansas state champ on violin and twice national champ), Charlie Chalmers on Tenor Sax (has recorded with Aretha Franklin, Al Green, the Bee Gees and Dusty Springfield to mention a few. Charlie also has 5 songs in the Grammy Hall of Fame, including "Mustang Sally" "Respect" "Let''s Stay Together" "Chain of Fools" and "Son of a Preacher Man") and Beci Coffey helping out on backup vocals. Combine these musicians with Randy''s 60''s rock style writing and vocals, and it makes for some interesting listening. It has influences from the Beatles, the Moody Blues, Booker T & the MG''s and the Eagles. Give it a try...
