Out & Runnin’ offers fresh originals and somewhat traditional arrangements to off-the-beaten path covers. Out & Runnin’ pushing the boundaries and is creating a new sound of their own that appeals to bluegrass and non-bluegrass audiences alike. Some have called O&R “a mix of soul and funk that collides with Bluegrass”. A unique sound of original songs like the Waylon Jennings tune “Rose In Paradise”, Mark Knopflers “When It comes to You” and Steve Wariner’s “Midnight Fire” shows the honky tonk bluegrass side of this group. Bill Withers’ hit ‘Ain’t No Sunshine” shows the R&B influence on O&R. This group shows their production arrangements on original songs “My Dirt”, that talks about a father and son that have been farming on the family farm and when they die they want to be buried in the dirt they have worked in. “Good Run” is a song that tells of a man that has tried his best at making a relationship work by giving it a good run at love. “I Buried Our Love” is a Tim Mensy and Tony Haseldon song that talks about a man digging a hole in his back yard and throwing all the pictures and memories in and burying his love but it want rest in peace. “I Get To” is a great ballad that talks of some of the things we don’t want to do in life but we get the opportunity to get to do them. If there is a comical song on the cd it is Coupe De Ville”. This song lays out the way a lot of people see Nashville after they have left everything behind back home and headed to the Music City to make it famous. O&R show their bluegrass roots on songs like “Picture In A Tear” and instrumental song “Lonesome Fiddle Blues”.
