Details:
Jono Manson and George ''Breakfast'' Bacon met in the early 1980s and have been firm friends ever since.
At that time, Jono’s band, the Worms, were the most exciting R&B/funk band playing regularly in NYC, with the possible exception of the Holmes Brothers. George was new in town and immediately became a fan.
When George started his own band, the Corn Flakes, Jono was sufficiently impressed to kindly offer to help record the band. Over the next few years, Jono produced several sessions for George, with the Corn Flakes and with Mumbo Gumbo (the acoustic band George formed with Joe Flood).
When the Worms’ bass player, the inimitable Jerry Dugger, needed some time off, Jono asked George to fill his shoes, which George happily did for several months until Jerry’s return.
And then there was the Dogs! Evolving from a number of late night jam sessions, the Dogs were literally a supergroup culled from the cream of NYC local heroes. The extraordinary and sadly missed Howie Wyeth on drums and sometimes piano, Jono on guitar and vocals, Neil Thomas ..boards and accordion and vocals, Kevin Trainor on guitar and vocals(Neil and Kevin were the lynchpins of the uniquely wonderful Surreal McCoys), Joe Flood on guitar, fiddle and vocals, and George on bass, mandolin and vocals. Their one album is testament to their being arguably the most intriguing outfit to emerge from that whole scene.
When George found himself back in England Jono and he continued to stay in touch and Jono has since included several of George’s songs on his wonderful albums. In 1999 they hooked up in Italy and did some writing and playing together.
Then, in January 2001, Jono joined George in Copenhagen and the two performed nightly for a month in a downtown club. They also collaborated on a batch of new songs and come February, their gig being over, they hired some equipment and in an apartment on the outskirts of town, with their friend Soren Dyhr engineering, recorded "Global Toast".
Since then they have conspired to hang out at least a couple of times a year, in England, Italy, or Santa Fe, writing songs and making a handful of appearances. Last year they finished recording another collection of their songs. These appear as the first ten tracks on their new CD "Keep ''em Coming". These are followed by TWELVE bonus tracks...their ENTIRE first album "Global Toast". 22 songs in all!!!
