Track By Track:

Hard To Turn Away - Addicted to something? Turn It Up! Tough, gritty basic rock track, tension and release. Who''s that drummer? “I been yearnin'', I been turnin'' to the dark side....”

A Powerful Love - Somebody''s in the midst of a deep crush. The Met State Horns (Art Deco, Frankie Avalanche, Esplanade Decatur & Johnny Brass) pump it up big time. Feel free to add your own fingersnaps. Backing vocals by The Intangibles. Blend of Americana and caucasian soul. “Sounds like the crickets in the middle of the summertime.”

Ten Cent Boogie - Rock & Roll. This track, long a staple at live shows, is finally available to you, the discerning listener. The rhythm section rips it up, while special guest artist Leo Teyasmeyer works that electric piano. Ol'' school party music.
“There''s a world of confusion spinnin'' around my head.”

Never Wanna Let Her Go - Tough stuff. Who IS this band? The focus group says this should be the single. Fabulous Rich
Pepin bassline! Features a "twice the legal limit" guitar solo by Russ Phillips.

Haunted (All I Can Do) - Spooky, evocative, sonically pleasing. Nice guitars on this one. Originally titled " I Never Wanted To Be Haunted" it would have been our first track that the title rhymed with itself.

Dorothy - Speaking of guitars, this Pete Ham/ L''Angelo Mysterioso inspired track has that pretty but tough feel. It''s a sad story of a little lost girl in the big bad world, but I''m sure she''ll be okay, eventually. Startlingly cool drum flourishes towards the end.

I Think I''m Falling In Love Again - And now for something completely different, a gentle vulnerable groove. Ed & Rich create a sweet ambiance on this one. Makes for an interesting audio experience, takes you to a different place.

All This Magic - The string section goes off the deep end, Bo Thompson guests on Synth. Layers of acoustics, a driving beat and some nice chord changes on this one. “You gotta do what you gotta do.”

The Great Escape - The Waverly Oaks Strings (Connie Frantic, Ruby Slippers, Vickie Gaebler and Rhonda U. Looksofine) are in full blossom on this "yearning to be free" anthem. Good one for the car stereo. Nice groove, Ed!

I Feel Alright – Americana? Right out of the “Dare To Be Dumb” school of songwriting, it''s a nice simple easy romp.
Cool rural vibe with odd echoes of harmonica and survivor''s guilt. No axe to grind on this one, just havin'' a little fun.

Right About Now (Cold Hard World) – This is the kind of oddball, stream-of-consciousness bizarre experiment that usually gets cut from an album. It is included in this collection as an example of the things that might happen if we ever made a double album. Spooky piano. “Nothin'' that you really want is goin'' to come easy.”

Always And Forever – Piano based ballad. A pledge of devotion, genuine expression of emotion. Nice rhythm guitar
and lyrics. I like big, slow, pretty songs, this is one.
