Details:
Martin Kealey (b. London) has been writing and recording music for 25 years. He is a vocalist, guitarist and bass player. His music is influenced by modern jazz, a style that takes up a lot of his listening time and to which he has devoted considerable study. However, while this may be said to colour his compositions, the resulting sound is decidedly more jazz/pop.

Martin released his first commercial EP: Imagery and Sound on the ODE record label in New Zealand in 1987. The song: "Road to China", received national radio play and positive reviews in the NZ music press.

Relocating to Berlin, Germany in 1988 to further his music career, he performed live as the guitarist/vocalist in "Eclectic Sound", a jazz duo that performed in the night spots of what was then, West Berlin. From 1993-95 he was a guitarist/vocalist in "The Riddles", a pop duo that performed in and around the Stuttgart area in southern Germany. The Riddles recorded a catalogue of Childrens’ Songs that were released in association with a number of Klett Publishing House publications. Returning to Berlin in 1996, Martin busied himself with project recording, finding time to do
session work as a guitarist, this time for the Cornelsen Publishing House. (One such session saw him playing solo guitar in support of an opera singer recording Italian folk songs for a Cornelsen CD.)

More recently Martin has been heavily involved in writing and recording his own compositions in his twenty-four track studio located in the Dahlem area of Berlin. He prefers to work in the studio rather than on the stage because, as he puts it, the “convenience and comfort factor” is far greater. “Furthermore,” he adds, “in the studio the musician has complete control over the sound, mood and atmosphere he wishes to create.”

The CD: "Shades of Desire", represents the culmination of three years studio work. Musically it reflects his interest in jazz, yet without being esoteric. Lyrically, it combines humour with irony, to which just a touch of pathos has been added. The lyrics to all the songs are included in an attractive 12 page booklet that accompanies this CD.

Currently, Martin is working on his next CD featuring original compositions and also a CD compilation of Jazz Standards.
