Rendall Wagner is an Australian singer/songwriter and one mean guitarist as well. The songs he writes are a reflection of life, love and the human spirit - and occassionally just some good old rocking! Rendall''s guitar style sits somewhere in between Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton, while his voice resembles a sweeter Bryan Adams or Peter Gabriel.
His ethnic mix combined with the emotion of a post war upbringing has combined for an interesting creative energy. It''s all rock, it''s great original songs with a lot of emotion-charged lyrics.
He has also won an award for best song on ''The Australian Songwriter Show'' for a tape demo of "SET ME FREE".
Some of the lyrics deal with current Australian political and controversial issues like “Land of Sunshine” written about the power struggle of Australian aboriginals; the yet-to-be released "Men of Hope" specifically about the mental anguish of Vietnam veterans (of which Ren has first hand experience - his father being one); and "Rosemary", written on Anzac Day (an Australian memorial day for WW1) after a “dawn service” about the blood spilled at Gallipoli in World War I.
CURRENT MOVEMENTS
Ren is currently in the studio with James Beech (bass & keys), Paul Carruthers (a thousand drums and percussion) and Mike Burns (guitars, baglama [Turkish lute] and sarod [Indian lute]) working on the second rock CD entitled “The Art Of Illusion” promising incredible eastern and world music influences. More than just a solo effort, Ren has collaborated with these unique and talented band members to produce a new sound somewhere between A Perfect Circle and The Tea Party!!
The band will also be performing specially re-worked material from Aum live once they get on the road.
