DESPITE favorable and enthusiastic reviews in the independent press, the debut CD failed to go platinum, or gold or even tin. Rick quit and joined a wedding band and was replaced with Frank - a younger, taller, thinner guy who likes to wear tank tops. Mark the saxman has been an increasingly integral part of our sound since the end of 2001.
IN 2002, we worked on perfecting our high energy, quirky, saxified, timeless, punky, catchy pop/rock approximately once a month in some of the world''s best venues located within 45 minutes of Philadelphia.
FROM late 2002 through early 2003, we recorded our follow-up CD, released in May of 2003. We found that our first14 song CD was too much for some people to handle at one time, so our follow-up is a 5 original song snack-size (15 minute) EP of all new material.
It just might be the best Restraining Order CD yet! We would love some feedback on the new material. If you act fast, you just might be rewarded with a collector''s edition RO toothbrush.

"Restraining Order is music of the ''white boy funk'' variety - the sort made by college kids who combine their high school jazz-band experience with wryly self-deprecating lyrics about trying to pick up chicks. The bios on the band''s web site (where little animated band members guide you around) seem to put them somewhat past their undergrad years, but the goofy/dance-y kegger-for-the-dorky-kids vibe is powerful through these five songs. ''Say Hello'' starts things off on a groovy note, upbraiding a stuck-up crush... ''Best Thing Yet'' is more interesting. It''s an odd
mixture of Motown and coffeehouse, with syrupy backup vocals and sax played against jangly guitars and a sprightly 3/4 beat. ''Swiper of My Heart'' is where Restraining Order seem to hit their stride. It''s another loving-from-afar song, this one about the front desk attendant who swipes the IDs at the gym, with bouncy ska
rhythms and cleverish lyrics, and the band sounds like they''re having the most fun yet. ''Windows II'' goes back to the funky formula, featuring a misguided but happy-go-lucky attempt at rapping. ''In the Rearview'' closes the disc with a story about being chauffeur to a sexy woman who is - surprise! - unattainable.
Restraining Order clearly has fun and doesn''t take things too seriously, though maybe they should get some counseling for those relationship issues."
