"I wanna be shot into the blue like a cannonball. I wanna hit every cloud on my way down. I wanna be blue, closer to the moon and you..."

Rhetoric Tuesday is a concept born from a time when the songwriter was king. Placing lyrics and melody above flare, this group takes the shape of mid 90s rock band and allows their "deep lyrics to propel this group into the undertones of such famed artists such as the Counting Crows or Gin Blossoms."

This blending of lyrical and acoustic rock is delivered by four young musicians out of Portland, Oregon. The members of Rhetoric Tuesday are all between the ages of 21 and 23 and all have drastically different musical backgrounds that contribute to the final product. Each member contributes a distinct style and personality that is reflected within the music, creating an amazing tone and undeniable emotion.

Singer and songwriter, Tyler Stenson (23), is a student at the University of Oregon and contributes acoustic rhythm guitar, as well as, what critics have called "soulfully delivered, articulate lyrics." A self-taught musician, Stenson has only been playing guitar for four years and writing music for three. To date, Stenson has provided the group with roughly 40 original songs and has competed in local songwriting competitions with great success.

Drummer Tommy Alfson (22) was originally trained in jazz and contributes a unique percussive element. Having played the drums for ten years, Alfson is the musical veteran of the group and provides a solid base for the group to build from.

Eric Toussaint (21) is the newest addition to the group. As a newcomer to the northwest, Eric joins the band from Boston, Massachusetts where he studied bass for one and a half years at Berkley. He has been trained in an array of styles and is extremely versatile and creative in his music.

As for the final layer of sound, Joey Albert (23) offers piano, keys, and organ. Albert too is a self-taught musician and began playing music and writing lyrics along side of Stenson. Albert has contributed to some of the songwriting in the group and each song ultimately passes through him for approval.

As a group, Stenson, Alfson, and Albert make up the original core. They are the original members of Rhetoric Tuesday, as formed two-and-a-half years ago. Toussaint was found by the group a mere three months ago but has already brought the group together and added an enormous amount of sound.

Rhetoric Tuesday is rock and roll with many layers. It encompasses a range of emotions, feelings, and ideas. As a group, the band hopes to express this concept to the world and create likeminded fans everywhere. Rhetoric Tuesday provides emotion and talent that can be appreciated by any music listener of any style. It''s a special thing that is developing within this powerful group. It''s music created with an undeniable message for the listener to consider on an emotional level.

There are definite plans for future recordings and an unlimited potential for success within the hands of the five members. Rhetoric Tuesday sees plenty more gigs to be played and plenty of music to be recorded in 2005. It is the ultimate goal of the group to have their music touch the world in a way never done before, so keep spreading the music around... share the wealth.

Rhetoric Tuesday has recently completed an 18 track recording that will be used as another demo for later recordings. The new demo, "The Moose Head Sessions" was recorded in three short sessions at the Moose Head Lodge in Eugene, OR and has an amazing live/raw feeling. Although details are being worked out regarding the printing of that disc, Rhetoric Tuesday will make it available to anyone through their website. Please contact them if you are interested in the new material aside from what is already being offered on "The Low Ceiling."

As a side note, the band would like to thank everyone who has given them a chance and accepted their demo "The Low Ceiling" for what it is. There has been an overwhelming amount of positive feedback and it only gives them a better reason to keep doing what they''re doing.

"Thank you everyone for supporting our group and giving our music a listen. This album is a big part of us so I hope that you keep playing it over and over again, singing at the top of your lungs... the way it was intended."
Tyler Stenson
