Details:
Mulch was formed in 1993 and first appeared on the scene in the Inland Empire in late 1993. The original core members include Brad Smith(Snidley) on guitars & vox, Randy Edgerly on bass, John Edgerly(Scraps) on guitar, and Lora Pagani on drums. They released their first product on cassette on BBR Records called Lay down the farm which featured songs like "Ace in the hole", "Getting by", and "Every hour". They were regulars in the I. E. including the Barn at UCR, Spanky’s in Riverside, the Showcase Theater, and anywhere they could get a gig. In 1994, they added Jason Thornberry to be their drummer and were off and running. In the midst of a busy gig schedule, they released a follow up cassette with a new batch of songs called Nowhere to Climb. This cassette featured many of the songs that would make up their debut CD entitled 13 Days, which featured songs like “Nowhere to Climb”, “Travelin road show”, “Pinata”, and “Bury it away”. During this time, they played a grueling show schedule with over 100 gigs in 1995 and this continued in the years to follow venturing into the Orange Curtain playing venues like the Galaxy, the Coach house, mainstays at the Doll Hut, and the 369 Club. They also mixed in showcase gigs in Hollywood at the Roxy, the Troubadour, the Whiskey, and others. Acts they played with include Firehose, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Face to Face, Unwritten Law, the Meat Puppets, Save Ferris, No Doubt, Youth Brigade, Samiam, Lagwagon, the Toadies, and many more. In 1996, they had another lineup change, adding drummer Mondo Del Rio on the drums. Adding Mondo fueled new spark of creativity and a new CD was completed in 1999 called Reasons To Quit. This record featured a new sound for Mulch and featured songs “ Greener skies”, “Dear Aunt Rosie”, and “Devil X”. “Dear Aunt Rosie” is highlighted with a guest appearance by the now internationally recognized Rocco Deluca on dobro. After going through several lineup changes, core members Randy Edgerly, John Edgerly, and Brad Smith parted ways and stop playing together on stage in 2002 but remain friends and even play music together on a regular basis. The music Mulch created continues to be enjoyed by many and still shows up in movies, documentaries, and sports related videos. In 2008, BBR Records will release a new Mulch album of B sides called Aces and Spaces that features many previously unreleased cuts excluded from the first two complete albums. The featured tracks are “Ace in the hole”, “Every hour”, and “Everybody lives on their word”. Rocco Deluca delivers a second guest spot on the later that blows the roof off of the joint. Over the last few years, Mulch has appeared with a variety of lineups and recently completed recordings for a spring release in 2009. Mulch creates good music for good people!
