When you live in New York you can ride the subway. You can ride the bus, the taxi, the elevator, escalator and the ferry. Depending on your temperament you can ride a hansom carriage around Central Park or a pinewood barstool into oblivion. And now, in New York City, you can Ride The Mole.
This hard-rocking quartet from Astoria, Queens has been gigging out in the darkest, dankest clubs it can find. With a high level of energy and a low level of bullcrap, Ride The Mole has entertained and satisfied New Yorkers for years. Guitar players Marc Scarano and John Filion trade off on lead vocal duties. Bass player Ted Kersten and drummer Peter Walsh "keep everything nice and tight with that rock-steady beat so the twin guitars can get rambunctious."
Their self-titled CD (produced by Mike Gent of The Figgs and The Gentlemen) is eleven songs from tortured souls who spent their adolescences locked in the bedroom playing along with Ramones records and figuring out Stones licks. Drawing comparisons to The Stooges, Clash, Buzzcocks, MC5 and Pavement, this band is well worth looking into.
Listen to the CD if you want; go see the band if you are able; Ride The Mole if you can.
