The Steed is four guys who like to play music while challenging themselves. Honestly trying to push the envelope a little bit while still remaining listener-friendly. Walking the line between academia (odd time signatures and interesting changes) and radio (singable lyrics and catchy riffs) is hard but The Steed manages to do it relatively well.
Songs are as diverse as the members themselves; a classic rock buff, an 80s rock/metal fan, a guitarist playing bass and a drummer with a penchant for 5/4 and 7/4. Some are long instrumentals, some are radio friendly verse chorus verse. Some have beautiful harmonies, some have vocal-chord tearing screams, and some have both.
The Steed has been likened to throwing Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, King Crimson, The Mars Volta, Helmet and Tool into a grinder and freebasing the result.
