MP3 Roots of Rebellion - The Looking Glass

Unconventional melodic hard rock that combines keyboard and vocals over complex rythms and chords, creating a sound that is equally appropriate on the dance floor, car radio and mosh pit.

ROCK: Hard Rock, ROCK: Modern Rock

Details:
"The Looking Glass" (2004), is the debut album from Roots of Rebellion which hails from Kinnelon, New Jersey, in the heart of the Northern Jersey metro rock scene.
Co-produced by the band and veteran sound engineer Tony Van Hoorn, (recorded Phil Ramone, Ray Charles, Rick Derringer, Southside Johnny) tha album combines a varied collection of tracks. Comprised of eight songs, "The Looking Glass" uses complex musical progressions in each song that are complimented by lead singer John Penola''s introspective, yet ambiguous lyrics. Swaying between kinetic choruses and somber verses, the album takes on the difficult task of pleasing both the hardest rocker and those who must find a melody and meaningful lyrics to appreciate a band''s talents.

The four piece band is composed of singer/keyboardist John Penola; guitarist Tyler Bissell; drummer/vocalist Kurt Wubbenhorst and bassist Rob Struck. The self-produced CD resulted in sales at shows and on the internet, rotation play on several online music channels and radio stations and a demand for the band''s live appearances. The band played "Locobazooka 2004" near Boston which featured such headliners as Nonpoint, Tesla, Crossfade, Saliva and Damage Plan.

The band was a 2004 nominee for The Asbury Music Awards in Asbury Park, NJ and is currently playing live dates throughout New York City, New Jersey and New England.
