The Roost is a heart & soul Rock and Roll band whose influences are not of these times. The music is no frills and straight ahead with plenty of melody for good measure.
The band counts much of the English blues and rock bands and singers of the seventies as influences, along with the great American soul music burgeoning in the sixties.
The Roost plays for the love of it with no excuses. The idea for the band was born out of a group of friends meeting every now and again and playing what ever came to mind. It was obvious they were all thinking the same thing. Three of those friends started writing together, recording together and before they knew it, The Roost came to be!
The debut recording features a few more friends who came by to help the boys out. Ian McLagan on Hammond organ and piano as well as John Hawken on piano and Wurley, with Dennis Diken on drums and percussion. Produced by Andy Johns.
