Details:
San Saba County takes their name from "The Pecan Capitol of the World," barely a dot on the map about 90 miles NW of Austin in the Texas Hill Country, and musically, they''re exactly what you'' want to hear walking into the town''s only bar on a hot Saturday night. The nine original songs on this debut CD take cues from traditional country with acoustic guitars, banjo, violin, accordian and the occasional pedal steel, updated with an Uncle Tupelo, early Wilco feel.
The Austin Chronicle has described Easy Does It as "The urban cowboy circa 2004: exhausted, restless, romantic, wasted. Easygoing acoustic record with surprising bite" and recommended it as one of 15 discs from Austin-area artists to buy this holiday season. In addition, San Saba County''s Ole Kentucky (track no. 9) has been named one of two "Up n Coming" songs to watch by Greg Mitchell in his discussion of Rolling Stone''s recent list of the greatest songs of all time. Mr. Mitchell is the editor of Editor & Publisher Magazine, the author of several books on contemporary popular history and politics, and most notably, is often credited with discovering Bruce Springsteen while he was the editor of Crawdaddy, a 70''s era music magazine competitive with Rolling Stone.
