EASY LISTENING: Mood Music, NEW AGE: New Age
If you like expressive, relaxing music played on an acoustic grand piano, this CD should be your cup of tea! The music on this recording represents the culmination of a lifetime of teaching and performing music in schools, orchestras, small ensembles, and solos for weddings and many other special occasions, as well as for the therapeutic benefit of residents in nursing homes. In addition, I have been a church pianist and music director for many years. I play the cello, also, and have composed music for that instrument, as well, and for various combinations of stringed instruments.
One of my major interests is the therapeutic effect of music, which began for me when, as a child, I would play "happy" music for my chronically ill father, to cheer him up )and it worked)! In fact, I would say this has been the major focus of my life. This is my first CD, and I made it at the request of many people who had heard my music, and wanted me to make a CD so they could listen to it at home. This rather amazed me, but I finally decided to take the plunge, and this is the result. My husband, Don, took the pictures of me which appear on the cover and the fold-over of the insert, at our summer home in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.
As you will notice from the titles, many pieces relate to the world of nature, such as "Butterflies At Play", "Forest", "Snow", and others. When you listen to these, try to imagine the subjects as I have tried to describe them in music. People who have listened to these pieces say they can picture just what I am attempting to say in the language of music, and this has really delighted me!
Regarding the therapeutic effect of this recording, one person who bought it told me it absolutely cured his migraine headaches, and several others have said that playing it in their car while driving has a very calming effect (without putting them to sleep!), essentially preventing road rage! Others have enjoyed it as background music for their dinner parties. It has also been used by massage therapists, and even played by a school teacher in his classroom to calm students while taking tests!
By the way, it has been aired on a local NPR program in Jeffersonville, NY.
Since the titles are quite self-descrptive, I will not bother to elaborate on them, and would advise you to use your imagination, and let the music speak to you!
