Introducing - Singing Sensation Dalton Lindo AKA "Screwdriver". Based in Miami, the Jamaican expatriate is rapidly earning airplay with politically progressive jams about social issues including responsible sex and other realities beyond the sheets. Born in Somerton, Jamaica, Screwdriver describes himself as "coming from the Beres Hammond stable" and remembers when he first went to Half Way Tree in Kingston to sing. Screwdriver recalls, "Beres say, ''gwan my youth, because you have the vibes, and from you have the vibes, just come'', and him nuh stop boost me and me respect that. When me start record me say me name Screwdriver and Beres said ''little more you going to hear a lot of tool dis and tool dat!'' And so said, so done."
The Hot Old Thing -its called Dancehall Reggae and it''s the Hot New Thing in popular music. Dubbed "The Originator of Raggamuffin Dancehall Reggae" Screwdriver has since 1986 recorded songs like "Soundboy Killer", "Here I Come", "We Rule", "Ganja Killer", and "Family Counselor" on various labels. He then released "No Mama (Sharon a Pregnant Yu Pregnant?)" on the Sonic Sounds Label which became No. 1 on the caribbean charts. Screwdriver went on to perform throughout Jamaica, the caribbean, the United States, and Canada to sold out crowds.
In 1990 Screwdriver began his pilgrimage in South Florida. He quickly became a South Florida favorite. Strongly committed to uplifiting lyrics and properly produced and arranged music, he recorded songs like "You Are My Doctor Girl", "Reggae on Broadway", "HIV", and "Roots and Culture". His 1992 album "Teach Dem" is a prime example of the upward movement, intensity, and improving grace of a singer/entertainer.
His new album titled "Calling, Calling " on the Ikus Records label continues his hard-hearted goal of to "bring people closer to God". He talks to our youth to instill a better way of life, dig deep into the souls of consciousness, and pick at the very same emotions that impede us from loving one another as brothers and sisters. "Calling, Callling" features songs like "African Woman", "Got to be Loved", "Young, Gifted, and Black", and the hottest single "Selassie Live!".
Screwdriver is an electric performer with a pure voice, following in the tradition of the many great singers from Jamaica. Look out for the upcoming releases on Ikus Records.
