Four years ago, singer/songwriter Mike Schuette picked up his father''s old, Washburn guitar. Chord by chord he learned to master the guitar. During his sophomore year of college, he purchased his first guitar and slowly the pieces of the puzzle came together as his talent developed. The more he played the more his passion for music was realized. For Schuette, music is an expression of his feelings and the best way for him to let his feelings show was to write a song. Telling real experiences and stories of life, love, and faith gave Schuette the ammunition for his first album. His CD, "Now You Know how I Feel", debut in the Summer and Fall of 2004.
The 22 year old singer/songwriter was born and raised in the small town of Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Mount Pleasant is located two hours from Ann Arbor or Detroit, both of which are big on the independent music scene. For now, the college campus atmosphere that Mount Pleasant provides allows places for Mike to do what he enjoys most; play. He primarily tours coffee houses, bars, and restaurants. A local writer said, "Mike''s music has the perfect tone for a college student. It''s laid back and mellow, but at the same time it has feeling. I can''t help but think of Jack Johnson and John Mayer when I hear it." Mike will graduate from Central Michigan University in the spring of 2005 with a business degree; however, this up and coming Michigan artist has his sights set on a different path of life. "I remember the first song I wrote, I never wanted anyone to hear it," Schuette recalls. Now, with his new CD he has hopes of many listening to his music. His breathy vocals and humorous stage performance is like conversating with a good friend. His songs are just stories about things he has experienced. "Writing songs is like putting together a puzzle, once you have all the parts where they belong, you will have a perfect song for the audience to hear."
After the music fades and the show is over, Mike Schuette is just a regular guy in faded jeans and a t-shirt who loves to get involved with his audience. His plans are simple, keep playing and creating music that will tell stories of love, life, relationships, and faith. "I am where I am, and doing what I''m doing for a reason."
