Scott Reeves is a New York-based trombonist, alto flugelhornist, composer, author and college jazz educator. A Chicago native, he received his Masters degree in Jazz Studies at Indiana University and since 1976 has been teaching jazz at the university level. Currently he is a Professor of Music at The City College of New York and also teaches at the acclaimed Juilliard School of Music.

Scott''s recent performing credentials include work at New York jazz clubs such as Birdland and the Knitting Factory with the Dave Liebman Big Band and the Chico O''Farrill Orchestra. He has recorded or played with saxophonist Anthony Braxton, Herb Pomeroy, Clark Terry, George Garzone, Rich Perry, Jerry Bergonzi, Ron Carter, John Patitucci and Pete LaRoca. Scott''s two books, Creative Jazz Improvisation and Creative Beginnings have been adopted by leading universities in the U.S. and Europe. His compositions for large jazz ensemble have been performed by the BMI Jazz Composers Orchestra at Merkin Hall in NYC.

For "Congressional Roll Call" Scott has assembled a group of some of the most prominent jazz artists in New York. Pianist Kenny Werner is known for his work with Joe Lovano and the Vanguard Orchestra, and was
recently nominated for a Grammy for his recording with
Toots Theilman. Bill Mobley is one of the top call New York trumpeters. Pianist James Williams was
musical director for Art Blakey''s Jazz Messengers and
Elvin Jones''s Quintet. Bassist John Lockwood and
drummer Bob Guillotti comprise two-thirds of the legendary Boston free jazz group, The Fringe.

The CD features three latin jazz selections, the standard "Speak Low" and originals "Ciao Luna" and "Saudado." Free interplay marks the performance of the title track "Congressional Roll Call," while "You
Are What You Think" features Scott''s alto flugelhorn
in a meditative chant floating over an Australian didgeridoo drone. An uptempo version of the standard
"Spring Is Here" brings the CD to an exciting conclusion.
