MP3 The Shack Monks - ROCK: Modern Rock

To relate it to well know artists, it sounds something like Pink Floyd riding in ZZ Top''s car with Joe Satriani driving and Neil Young and Neil Diamond hiding in the trunk.

Leave your inhibitions at the door...

You''re invited to the party. Just outside of town, down the country road, up the gravel drive and under the tall sycamore trees, there''s a little shack. They ain''t playin'' country music there. No Sir. It''s a rockin'' good time for all!

The self-titled and self-produced debut album from the Shack Monks was recorded in a shack - a party shack of local renown. Now you can join the party and experience the world from the Shack Monks point of view. The music is like 80''s rock with a futuristic and sometimes psychedelic twist. From the straight-ahead rocking Passion Tonight to the mesmerizing Beholding You, the Shack Monks take you on a guitar-driven journey through time and space. The lyrics come from imagination and experience - life, love, smoky bars, and whisky-laden jams. It''s a cybernetic blend of the old and new - a big sound from a little shack.

Lead singer and keyboardist Jim Parry is the principal songwriter and arranger in the band. His melodic vocals cut clearly and with passion.

Bill Melvin''s lead guitar playing is often compared to a cross between Joe Satriani, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, and that other dude. His leads are sustaining and sometimes even referred to as ''massive'' (whatever that means).

Rhythm guitarist Dave McPeak holds up the foundation with his unique style that makes women want to take their clothes off and jump up and down screaming "Shack Monks RULE!"

(Well, the screaming part actually happens... and maybe the jumping :)~
