Review:

Shannon Ames is a modern-day Bohemian who pursues a life of artistic hedonism: manic, obsessive, searching for the convincing, the beautiful, the ugly, and the space and nature connecting everything. In times of passion--angst or ecstasy--he reaches for his guitar, Dictaphone, pen and paper to capture words and melodies surfacing from the depths of his subconscious mind; he reaches for his pen and journal to scratch, in broken cursive, poetically sculpted verses. Recently, Shannon was diagnosed with wanderlust, and he is currently vagabonding in Europe and Asia--teaching English, and writing and performing music.

The CD is self-titled: Shannon Ames ~ Bohemian Dreams
Altogether, the songs on the CD span back nearly eight years into Shannon''s repertoire. The 12 songs on the album were carefully selected to make for a diverse CD--thematically and harmonically. Some songs are philosophical musings; others are testaments of love and friendship; while others are a synthesis--tales of day-dreaming, vagabonding, and the search for fun, freedom, adventure, and human connection. Certain songs meet pop standards, while, on the other extreme, others have a tap root growing deep into the folk genre. Shannon is proud of the diversity of ideas and sounds on this project. It is somewhat difficult to type this music, to squeeze it into a genre. For now, he calls it "World-Funky-Folk-Pop/Rock Music with Bluesy Overtones." The themes resonating in all the songs are hope, and faith in fun and love.

All songs, minus a few accompanying tracks, were recorded at Shannon''s home studio (Broadway Villa #3) Bend, Oregon. The mixing and mastering took place at Featherlight Studios with Steven Michael Hartwell as the engineer and co-producer. This was indeed a collaborative project. Steve was the technical wizard that added dimension and color to the tracks. He also added some brilliant keyboard parts on a few tracks.
Several local musicians contributed to this project as well...and Shannon is so thankful for their talent, time, and dedication...

Jenny Baker (Vocal Harmonies on "Brotherkeeper", and "Time to Grow")
Jennifer Solman (Bass on "Fly-Day Dreamin''", and "Full Sail")
Andre Siniard (Conga on "Falling" and "Time to Grow")
John Cardwell (Electric Guitars, Acoustic Guitars on many of the songs)
Dean Prescott (Electric and Acoustic Guitar (leads) on "Fly Day-Dreamin''" and "Full Sail")
Kevin Blanchard (Percussion on "Full Sail")
Gary Webster (Smokin'' sax on "Fly Day-Dreamin''")

Shannon: "I am grateful for so many people in the Central Oregon community that helped bring this project to fruition."

Please listen to the CD...it''ll move you, really...
