This is a very lively, inspirational Christmas CD with great traditional/mixed churchy choir sound. Union Mass Choir is known for mixing up all styles of music anyway, but they are also known to do it all with high praise. This CD is "vintage" Union Mass Choir styling that director, Lisa Nelson has become known for in presentation. The music mix starts with the traditional high praise classical approach and quickly goes to a worship environment just on the first cut. Then it breaks out into a straight up church service with good mixed gospel grooves. I also enjoy listening to the flow of the story line that ensues that takes you through the actual prophesy of the birth in track 2 "Prepare Ye the Way" through tracks 3 - 6 that goes from "No Room at the Inn", "The Night That Christ Was Born" to "Go Tell It" I love the rendition they do of "O Holy Night" and "Now Behold the Lamb" on here. geeesh. Min. Lisa does an entire biblical intepretation of what the Lamb of God means at the beginning of the song that brings the entire "born to die" sacrifice of Jesus together. By that time, you have literally received the entire "gospel" message by the end of the CD. Wonderful! This is a must have for your Christmas collection, especially for all church choir musicians and directors,and all gospel music enthusiast!
