Songs from Utopia are the songs of Rebekka Zarkava. In the 90s she was a songwriter, guitarist and vocalist for Big Mama and Mas á Tierra. Later she performed on bass, guitar and as a vocalist with a number of different bands including valiumspeed, Marygold and the Velvet Underground cover band Sweet Nuthin’.
She recorded the new album “Bring Me Home” with a group of musician friends: Monic Mathys (electric and upright bass), Charlie Zimmerman (electric guitar) and Baldi Baldinger (drums). The songs, which she produced herself, were recorded in various studios (Foolhouse – Deezl Imhof, Soundfarm – Roberto Viso, Pazo – Patrik Zosso) and were mixed in collaboration with Patrik Zosso. The lushly arranged songs, a mix of indie folk and indie rock, are melancholic, hopeful and dreamy.
