MP3 Siggy - Cryptophasia

Intelligent music for passionate people.

10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Emo, ROCK: Hard Rock

Details:
Take four overeducated, variably socialized people who can''t make it through a week without locking themselves into a smoke drenched rehearsal studio overlooking the gritty environs of downtown LA and you have all the elements for the evolution of Siggy. This critically acclaimed band is emerging from another bout with life, death, love, sensual abandon and technical school figures. Their third CD, Cryptophasia, is being released in June 2004. And their music and performance is featured in a widely hailed documentary, Rolling, starring Siggy''s frontman on wheels, Galen Buckwalter.

Siggy is as independent as a band can be. The reviews for Siggy''s 1999 debut relished the rebirth of "the dirty underbelly of rock and roll." The comparisons ranged from X to Television to REM. Now take the raw power of four people bred for rock and roll and fast forward six years. Years of hard life, a dance or two with the shrouded one, dreams of the innocent and lives of the damned. But always Siggy. Always new, a bond with the past that drives the future, a refuge from the humdrum. Siggy still brings a murderous combination of love, lust, profanity and verisimilitude.

The most erudite line-up in popular music continues. Fronted by the best lyricist/vocalist/
quadriplegic/research scientist since, since...well for some time anyway, Galen Buckwalter is still here. An internationally renowned psychoneuroendocrinologist with a penchant for lurking in life''s back allies, he pours a life of pleasure and pain into every song. The front of the stage is also the purview of guitarist/psychoanalyst Ryan (Phingurs) Howes. Phin has a style that brings everyone back for more. Smooth, penetrating, assured. Fits with his background as the child of a peripatetic band of evangelical gypsies. Paul (Spyder) Netherton, renaissance man, on drums. Hard and solid. The sweat that drives the band. Deborah (Viking) Buckwalter, clinical neuropsychologist, plays bass. One cool beauty with a ferocious beat.
