Details:
Silandara mixes her diverse background and musical influences into her own brand of chick folk rock. Occasionaly romantic or hopeful, often edged with angst and anger, her songs convey the steps on a journey to independence and finding a resilient spirit within.
A singer/songwriter and guitarist, she is originally from England. Silandara first started writing songs at the tender age of 14 after she was "asked to leave" Barbados, West Indies, where she had lived living for 4 years. Since then, a couple dozen songs and several reams of poetry have issued forth. Music is the thing that keeps her sane, she says. Silandara also plays the recorder and piano and has a background in acting and theatre.
Silandara''s musical influences range from the reggae and calypso she heard in the islands, to the folk and bluegrass of the Appalachian mountains where she settled for a few years, to today''s radio divas like Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan and Jewel.
"Goddess Inside" is her second solo release. The first, a Christmas album titled "A Gift of Christmas Spirit," was released in 1999.
