Kenny (Kdawg) Giacomini has always been the kind of guy that does not at all apply to the “what you see is what you get” idea. When a freshmen in high school, he started isolating himself in his room and writing his thoughts when he had nothing else to do. Having nothing and nobody to share his thoughts with, paper was what ended up being his best conversation partner. Kids at his school, a lot of them were his so called friends, laughed and joked about how he was a rapper and thought it was an embarrassment and a shame that he was rapping and writing his own lyrics.
Kenny spent the first half of his high school life mainly on music and sports. He played baseball and football but the three things that were there year round every night were his mind, his pencil, and his notebook. So he got much better at what he did/does. After a few years of being the odd guy out, people started to notice Kenny’s music in a good way instead of the joke that it seemed to be only a few years earlier. From the beginning, he has not held anything back when it comes to expressing himself through rap. He has made it obvious over and over again that he was not the average high school student in that he doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, and doesn’t even put himself into situations where it is going on. Although he was a somewhat “popular image” at school, for some reason, even his best friends wouldn’t believe it when he told them about his “clean” habits.
Kenny spent high school trying to become better at what he did (rap). The difference between him and a lot of artists is he doesn’t seem to spend his time and effort for himself. It is about his message. He has always felt that his uplifting good guy attitude, which is opposite of most rappers, will only make a difference on a big level if he makes it in the music business. The more people that listen, the more people that may change and start to follow his ways.
When it was all said and done for high school, Kenny and his rapping/composing partner, Jobany Betancourt, performed at their graduation and got a standing ovation by the same kids that laughed at him four years earlier. Now, with his first CD since graduation, he looks forward to pursuing his music career.
"In the future I see myself standing on stage in front of 50,000 people. And everyone of them listens to my music and follows my footsteps. They don''t drink, they don''t do drugs, and nobody questions them. So if I have a son who believes in the same things I do then he feels like he is doing the right thing instead of the wrong, which is the way I have felt my whole life. I have always been told by my friends and girlfriends that I''m wrong and that being sober isn''t fun and that it is the wrong thing to do. I want to make it so following the crowd means NOT doing drugs and NOT drinking alcohol instead of the opposite. If every song I write makes 100 people hate me and 1 person love me, and that person stops partying and refuses to take part in the cycle of society, then I have done my job. So in the future I see myself making it right, for the entire world, cuz i have been told nothing is impossible and for some reason i believe it.
