Native of the higlands Atlas of Algeria, Keyko Nimsay rubs with the music and in particular with the jazz since childhood. For several years in collaboration with french , caribean and americans musicians ( Lonnie Plaxico, ALAIN jean Marie , Louis Petrucciani, René Nan , Hervé Samb, Steve Novosel...) and with the trumpet player from Guadeloupe,Franck Nicolas,she also added her contribution to the Caribbean music,which heracts of Biguine or jazz KA.
Synthesis of these influences, "Keyko''s Dream/Jazz''aïrya Project"
is the fruit of her experiment, and amalgamates in a completely convincing way the spirit and feelings of North Africa at the Caribbean rhythms and the https://www.tradebit.comanck Nicolas signs the majority of the compositions, while Keyko Nimsay brings words and arrangements. To carry this project, the singer is pressed on musicians of experiment. On piano and Rhodes,MARIO CANONGE finds a place one cannot more natural, travelling with ease from the Biguine to the vertiginous flights of a bop in the line of McCoy Tyner. It is also a musician of fusion (Ultramarine) particularly at ease in this interbreeding.
On bass MICHEL ALIBO (Sixun, Sakésho),one of the most charismatic and effective bass player, he also finds a universe which he already accustomed within The "Maghreb and friends"of guitarist NGUYEN LÊ with the drummer
KARIM ZIAD (Ifrikiya, National Orchestre of Barbès).
This multi-instrumentalist is precisely the the drummer which was necessary to this project, brillant and creative as always. Over this trio of exception, we find with a great happiness the young violinist JASSER HAJ YOUSSEF . He''s a reference on the "melange" and was already noticed by Geoffroy de Masure and LINLEY MARTH with the concept Last night in Tunisia. Lastly, Keyko called upon the young drummer Arnaud Dolmen to bring Gwoka base of her project ( Around Midnight track 13) the only standard with original arrangement of this first opus on her own name.
From gnawa music inspiration to the Biguine, Gwoka with the blues, the surprising mixtures appear rich of a material that Keyko Nimsay kneads with happiness . On this ,often, very rhythmic music, Keyko takes us along on a trip, where the extent of her vocal pallet finds with wonder to open out. Sometimes spoken (Maanouara blues,track 10),passing from the most
raucous low registers (Tassili NAjjer,track9 ) to acute strident,with spleen (Keyko''s Dream track 4 ) or energy, and finally quite, simply jazz, the voice of Keyko Nimsay makes us pass by all the feelings.
