At our birth, in our beginning, our original Genesis, we were all born into sin. But when a sinner meets Christ, gets to know Him, and partakes in a spiritual baptism they are washed in His blood, covered by His grace, and their life is renewed. They are a new creation. This is the moment of a new beginning, a rebirth, and thus a second Genesis.
II Genesis: In the Beginning

Singing in a choir is one thing, but there’s just something special about that small group dynamic. My sister, Hillorie Tambaoan, and I had been in numerous small groups in the past, from trios to quintets, we did it all. Over the years, the groups had faded away due to circumstances of life, and now we were in a small group singing drought. We were both still singing in a choir (Mere Image) and with other small groups here and there but without anything consistent. The drought was unbearable.
Upon analysis, it seemed as though forming a stable, consistent small group was impossible. (But when God hears impossible, He say’s, “I think you mean improbable.”) A third member for this group was easy to come by. My sister’s husband, Wilfred Tambaoan, when asked about starting yet another group (since he’d been a part of several of the previous small groups with my sister and me) simply said, “I just want to sing.” My sentiments exactly.
I realize a bass, baritone/tenor, and an alto could possibly form a decent group, but we were aiming for at least a quartet. This is where it seemed … shall I say … improbable. Every possible candidate seemed very unlikely to be willing or able to join us. The drought continued.
My frustration spilled out into a random conversation with a church member. Strangely enough her son, Herman Eugenio, had shared similar frustrations with her. He was one of the candidates previously counted out because we assumed he was too busy. Talking with him, however, revealed that this was far from the truth. He not only had the time but was full of desire and excitement to be a part of this new group. Proving that when God solves a problem, He does so beyond all expectations, Herman’s sisters, Jenna and Emily, also accepted the invitation to join us. And thus II Genesis was born.
Since our beginning, in 2004, we have been blessed with the opportunity to sing for several churches, but we mainly sing at our home church Whittier S.D.A. Church. As all of us are a part of other music groups within the church (choirs, praise teams, etc.) we are kept busy with what we love to do -- share the love of Christ through song. Much of the music we sing was either written by Henry G. Murray, Jr. or performed by other Christian artists such as Acappella, Go Fish, Rescue, The Master’s Plan, Gaither Vocal Band, and others. But whenever, wherever, and whatever we choose to sing, it is always for the purpose of praising and glorifying the God who loves us, died for us, and is coming back for us.
