Since 1985 Kevin Slick has been recording and performing an amazing array of music. His original tunes combine the best of traditional roots with contemporary creativity. When Slick covers a tune, he breathes new life into the song by taking it into unexpected directions. The Philly Rock Guide has called his work, "A witty amalgam of folk, rock and world beat rhythms."
Option Magazine said "Slick is a songwriter who crafts his music into the far horizons of artistic vision. He takes inspiration and molds it into a rewarding end product."
He has shared the stage with artists ranging from Pete Seeger and David Bromberg to Blues Traveler and The Hooters. His live performances have taken Slick from the legendary folk club Godfrey Daniels to New York''s famous CBGB''s, from festivals to coffeehouses, not to mention street corner or two.
"Impressive, among the best of the singer-songwriters, his albums are a ''must have'' addition to anyone''s collection" Relix Magazine
"Haunted melodies and thoughtful, poetic lyricism recall the best parts of Richard Thompson and Nick Drake. Slick is that good!" Sound Choice Magazine
"His deep resonant voice showcases a knack for warm engaging melodies and introspective wit" The Bob Magazine
"The equal of any "new folk" singer-songwriter today, creating a sonic world that is both unique and constantly interesting." Philadelphia City Paper
For the recent album Dust Tracks on the Road, Kevin turned on the recorder while spending a weekend alone and just played through favorite tunes. The mix went from traditional celtic, to originals, stopping off at the Talking Heads and a detour past Kate Bush. The arrangements are sparse, mostly guitar and mandolin with a touch of bouzouki.
