Details:
Jeff Smolizer, based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, has been playing guitar for nearly 30 years. He was influenced early on by Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Rush, and Deep Purple, and later by jazz rock fusion artists like Al DiMeola,The Dixie Dregs(Steve Morse), and Jon Luc Ponty. In the early 80''s, he played throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland with a band called Spectres. They had early success, being a top ten finalist, with hundreds of tapes submitted, in the Miller High Life Rock to Riches contest in Harrisburg, and were included on a compilation album. Unhappy with the direction the band was taking, and wanting to get into something more technically challenging, he left to form a new band. Two other members later went on to form Poison. With that band and the next, Silent Rage, he tried to incorporate the styles of Van Halen, Dokken, Iron Maiden, and Queensryche, playing throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, and into New York. This band was also chosen out of hundreds as a top ten finalist York''s Battle of the Bands competition. He left the scene for a few years and attended an area community college to study music theory, piano, and classical music. After that, he formed a new band, Demoralizer, and concentrated on developing a more original progressive rock sound. Discouraged by the changing band members and musical styles, he decided to leave the band scene. "Two Sides to Every Story" is his debut solo instrumental guitar CD, written, produced, and engineered in his home studio. Playing all guitars and bass, with the help of a drum machine, with "Two Sides...", he utilizes his own unique blend of instrumental guitar. Jeff''s song "Look Where You Have Been" was recently given airplay on (Harrisburg''s) 93.5 WTPA''s Homegrown Show. He is currently working on his follow-up CD, due out early next year. Take the time to experience this melodious, multi-talented, guitar-shredding, intellectual rocker!
