Details:
The Smyrna Band was established in 1975 by founder Ron Thompson and Timothy Bode as an acoustic rock band. The band evolved into a "power Pop" rock band in the late 70''s and experienced numerous personnel changes.
In the 1980''s the group settled into a power trio with two national releases and two produced albums. The song entitled "In the Deep of the Night" was distributed by Morada Records and "Raise Up the Standard" by Lamb Records.
The later of the two records had two top singles on "American Christian Countdown" in 1986 & 1987. The Smyrna Band continued to play road gigs until the early 90''s and then began to concentrate on a more local level after settling in Myrtle Beach, SC.
The band established "Firstfruit Ministries" which has developed into a multimedia production company. This company produces both TV shows and musical concerts.
The Smyrna Band continues to minister in music but has changed the format back to its acoustic roots. Two new members contribute to the change. Dallas Gennerich joined the group in the late 90''s and Brandt Farmer was added in 2002.
As the group continues to play coffeehouses and to do street ministry in the new format, they have many requests for cd''s. In January of this year, The Smyrna Band returned to the studio to record a new release entitled "I Hear A Sound". They pray that the project will bless those who hear it as much as they were blessed when they did the recording.
