From a very young child Tys has been interested in performing and developing her talents, appearing in adverts in Vogue (Italy) and on television where she appeared with her triplet brother and sister, as well as enthusiastically following the conventional route of dancing school, pantomimes and musicals.
Tys followed this with a period as a teenage catwalk model and street dancer whilst completing studies at Sixth Form College and London College of Fashion.
It was at this stage that Tys decided to develop her passion for singing, joining the girl group ‘Frenze’, where she gained three years valuable studio experience. This was in addition to performing in a cover band, providing backing vocals for Charles Walker in the UK and Europe, and being a valued member of the Melek Gospel Choir.
Tys is very much a family girl and comes from a mixed background of Greek Cypriot and English, several members of both families being writers, poets, journalists and singers. This family background has greatly influenced Tys’ style of singing as has living in one of the most multi-cultural, multi-faith boroughs in the UK. Tys uses these invaluable experiences to enhance her vocal styling, aiming to include a range of styles and genres in all her work.
Tys’ debut album reveals her passion for people; especially family, friends and those that may be experiencing the downside of life. Through her music Tys gives a voice to those that have difficulty expressing themselves; whether on everyday issues, to lift spirits and enjoy the moment, or comment on controversial issues. The music and lyrics reveal just one small part of the feelings, emotions and hopes of Tys Panayis.
