Greg Lato is a patient man. Those of you who know him may be laughing right now, but let me explain. While waiting in the wings working with some of the most successful musicians in the industry, he has been carefully contemplating the move to step under his own spotlight. Born and raised in Providence, RI, Greg started writing his own melodies from as early as 7 years old. Joining various bands throughout the years, he did not come out if his shell until he started performing at high school talent shows. Fast forward a few years later and Greg releases his first EP to great reviews and attention locally, receiving spins on local radio station Coast 93.3, and opening for major acts. He also appeared in many press outlets local and beyond. This was an intense period of touring high schools and colleges, autograph signings at record stores, and appearing on local TV shows/Radio Stations. Following a performance at Madison Square Garden in NYC, Greg took a detour and started writing for other artists. Often spreading his time between Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Nashville, Greg started making a name for himself as a ‘go to’ melody and lyric writer. He also received an Honorable Mention in the Billboard World Song Contest. During this process, the need to express his own feelings and personal experiences kept swirling around in his head. In what way could he get these extensions of his own personality out? Again he was patient. Throughout his songwriting career, Greg has made some great friendships from which he wanted to surround himself with for his new studio project. He decided that if he was to step into this arena, he would make a record the way he always wanted to: the right way and on his terms. The process of recording the upcoming album ‘Monday Morning Breakdown’ was a great experience and an extremely rewarding one. It was recorded and produced mainly at Mission Sound (All American Rejects, The Starting Line) and Sanctum Sound (JoJo, NKOTB, The Click Five) with a dream team of musicians in the industry. These included Nir Z (John Mayer, Chris Cornell), Lee Nadel (Regina Specktor, Matt White), Charles Haynes (Kanye West) and Billy Jay Stein (Gavin DeGraw, Vanessa Carleton) among others. Mixed by Jon Kaplan (Maroon 5, Gavin DeGraw, Ingrid Michaelson) and Gary Lux (Rob Thomas) and mastered by Dave McNair (Sara Bareilles, Jon McLaughlin). Greg’s patience has proved to be the right move with the release of the stunning first single and music video for ‘Beautiful Woman’ now on iTunes and other music downloading services. The upcoming release of the new album ‘Monday Morning Breakdown’ will mark the creation of a style of pop music that is uniquely his own amidst today''s musical landscape. It is a hybrid of his vast musical influences, which range from late seventies/early eighties to modern pop. It takes patience to realize your dreams and do things your way. The spotlight is shining….
