I grew up in Houston, TX, straight up born and raised! And like every other kid, wanted to play the drums in elementary school band, but like every other kid, got stuck with something else haha. Can’t complain though. Music started to enter into the picture a little more and more as I got older and older. Whether the influence came from my family and friends around me, or just from the eerie captivation music can have on people, even kids- I was enjoying it nonetheless.
Continuing to play more and more as I got older into high school and throughout college, I began growing into different groups and playing with different artists. To this day, those experiences still mark some of the greatest memories of my life; with and around some of the best people I have ever met.
In May 2008, I took a step in a different direction - placing the center mic in front of me. It was honestly a crazy and scary sound off the bat haha, but I stuck with it for a while.
I then began recording the tune "Place Where You Are" in May 2008 as simply an experimental song. And man, it was so fun. Creating sounds in the studio and working with amazing people definitely made this experience awesome.
And Now I am here.
My thoughts from the past few months have turned into lyrics and those lyrics have formed into songs....songs that are no doubt therapy for my soul as they are played again and again.
My influence comes from life itself, and the plethora of events that life throws at us. I guess the only real goal I have for my music is that it is honest. Honest to myself and honest to the people who listen to it. Maybe it is through honesty when we can really begin to know one another. Where we can be just the people we are. Something that I want learn someday…
“Where You can Just Be You” is a release about many different things. Perhaps the music will touch a few of you at this moment in time. If so, my friends, I hope that YOU can take the center mic.
