Details:
After the release of their first studio album Moment Golden in February 2003, SpencerAcuff has developed drastically from their acoustic pop/singer songwriter roots established by founders Will Acuff and David Spencer. As two songwriters became a full band with the addition of drummer Tommy Perkinson and bassist Jeff Crawford, they set out over the past year and half to find their sound as a unit.

Playing around the East Coast, with stops from Boston to Baton Rouge such as the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem and their home base at the Cat''s Cradle in Carrboro, have honed the band''s sound and rounded the band out with four part harmonies and an older influence of such bands as The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and the Everly Brothers.

The result is SpencerAcuff''s second album, recorded this summer in Nashville under the production work of David Henry (Guster, Josh Rouse, REM). The band traveled to Nashville to record the entire album in three months at True Tone Recording, Henry''s home studio. Artists such as Joe Pisapia (Guster) and Thad Cockrell stopped by the studio to lend their talent to the album.

Throughout the process, the band aimed to focus on making a sound that bridges modern pop acts such as Coldplay and Guster with an older sound, incorporating a strong vocal element and vintage guitar sounds. The band sought to make a musical product that all ages could enjoy, and it reflects in the crowds that attend their shows.

Today, SpencerAcuff is playing every weekend around the East Coast, primarily in the Southeast. In addition to the original four members, the group has recently added John Henry Trinko at piano and organ. The band was selected last year as one of 25 bands nationwide to promote and test The Bose Corporation''s revolutionary PAC amplification system, a sound system that they play with that has no monitors and no mixing board.

The band has opened for acts such as Better Than Ezra, Josh Kelley, Will Hoge, Roman Candle, Thad Cockrell, Weekend Excursion, Virginia Coalition, and the Blue Dogs. The sound has moved away from their acoustic roots to an all electric approach that puts emphasis on the song and the vocal strengths of the band. The band''s show now is all about high energy and good music, encouraging the audience to participate and enjoy their All American Rock Music Revue.
