Jake Perrine has been an audio and music enthusiast all his life and began composing electronic music in 1984 on an Apple II+ using Basic II as his medium. With the advent of the MPU-401 MIDI interface, he was hooked, and wrote his first opera with a Voyetra DOS sequencer on an IBM XT 286 which had two floppy drives and no hard drive.
In 2000 he relocated for a year to New York City to stage a newly revised production of his operatic work, "VAMP - Consumption in Three Acts," which was performed at the Lamb''s Theatre in Times Square in March 2001.
Returning to Seattle in June 2001, Jake leapt directly into several large scale projects including the award winning 2001 U2 webcast for https://www.tradebit.com, producing a benefit gallery and performance event called "My America," sound designing and acting in a play by Naomi Iizuka called "Polaroid Stories," a remix for Sir Mix-a-lot, sound for the short film "Commercial" directed by Michael Cross, and the demo of his second operatic work entited "The Device," an electronic geopolitical space opera.
Since college Jake has self-produced solo records under the project heading "Spire" showcasing his songwriting, performance and engineering skills. His latest release is called "Inertia" and comprises (mostly) mid-tempo (and mostly) instrumental electronic textures. He is currently at work on an uptempo trance and ambient albums.
Most recently, Jake has taken up teaching audio, video, web design and streaming media at The Art Institute of Seattle which he thoroughly enjoys, as well as freelance engineering and mastering work through his company https://www.tradebit.com.
