-M. Henningsen
Weekly Alibi (2000)

Born on September 18, 1949, Stan had his first guitar at age 6. It was a Roy Rogers model, (which went great with his cowboy boots, hat and guns!) He played it until it fell apart - and he''s been playing ever since.

In 1966, when he was 17, Stan joined his first professional band, The Morticians. With their regional #1 hit, "Little Latin Lupe Lou", they toured the western US, and opened for a variety of well-known groups, including Buffalo Springfield, The Seeds, Paul Revere & the Raiders, and The Turtles.

Stan went solo after that, playing solo acoustic guitar (folk blues), opening for acts including Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee, Earl Scruggs, and Country Joe and the Fish, Phillip Walker, Bob Margolin, Foghat, Anson Funderburgh, Little Charley & the Night Cats, Johnny Copeland, Albert Collins, James Harmon....
--The list goes on.

Stan''s work has also included several videos, "Roly Poly Blues" for PBS, (documentary soundtrack) and "Put Yourself in my Place" with Pam Tilles, which reached the top of the charts and aired nationally and internationally.
The Arts Channel also commissioned a video titled, "Stanton Hirsch - Solo Artist".

With over 30 years'' experience as a full-time musician, Stan Hirsch has been featured more often, and has more awards and credits than we can list. Here are a few of the more recent ones:

-New Mexico "Wammies" Award - "Best Guitarist" 2000

-Listed as "Best Live Performance/Show" in the "Alibi" magazine
(where they also refer to Stan as the "Guitar God"!)

-Madrid Blues Festival - (for the last ten years!) -
solo acoustic blues and Allstar Blues Jam

-Albuquerque Blues Festival - annual festival at the El Rey Theatre

-Won New Mexico''s "Alibi" Music Award - "Best Acoustic Guitar" 1997

"I have always loved music; the tones, and the spaces between the tones," says Hirsch. -And these spaces between the tones, his impeccable timing, is part of what makes his music so compelling

Here''s What the Press Says about Stan Hirsch:

"There are a lot of great guitar players in town, and Stan taught most of them everything they know. Phenomenal doesn''t begin to describe his playing. Complete mastery of the six-string is more accurate."
-Michael Henningsen
Albuquerque Alibi (2000)

"I''ve been out seeing bands play live; here are the best 5 shows / performances I''ve seen recently:
#1 - Stan Hirsch."
-"Outside My Room"
Rachel Heisler (2000)

"King''s Court: On October 22, the Blues Kings will release their latest CD. Nieto says that the album''s jewel is an acoustic duet with the legendary local guitarist Stan Hirsch."
-"Blues King" John Patrick Nieto
Producer / Musician (Spring 1999)
(In "Week''s Worth")

"The blues howled and wailed and sobbed at the Dingo Bar last Thursday night.
Vocalist / guitarist Stan Hirsch let loose some high-energy blues. As soon as the music began, the club transformed itself, as though someone had flipped a good-time switch.

"Blues is jammin'' music," Hirsch said between sets. It certainly was last Thursday night.
-"Night Moves" - Kate Bennett
