MP3 Starfuzz - You Are Food

It hurts to be so hi-fi.

11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: Beatles-pop

Details:
The spark that became Starfuzz was a twinkle in the mind of Josh Skelton (Xiren, Losing November) in late 2003. He wanted to put together a group of musicians who, first and foremost, would satisfy an elusive quality for bands: chemistry. After auditioning 20 guitar player/songwriters, the classically trained Skelton met Ryan Countryman and found someone whose attention to melody, lyrics, and song composition would help to produce the band''s signature full-bodied guitar and vocal harmonies. The resulting sound has been compared to the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and late 60''s classic rock forged with more modern acts such as early Radiohead, Pavement, and Coldplay.

For three months the two worked out songs while continuing to search for the rhythm section. After auditioning numerous combinations, they found the other half of Starfuzz in Jared Schiltz (drums) and Curtis Durham (bass), both of whom worked with Ryan. They were more than willing to help record a three-song demo so Josh and Ryan could move forward with their project. After three practices, Jared and Curtis were hooked and joined the band full time. Starfuzz was born.

The three-song demo quickly bloomed into a full length, 11-song album. Rather than lose focus by booking gigs right away, the band decided the best approach was to finish the album and polish it as much as possible, design some merchandise, and then hit the scene full force in early fall of 2004. In addition, they developed a multimedia intro to their live performances which draws upon mid-twentieth century atomic bomb/science nerd obsessions.

"They''re unbelievable."
-Jake Schroeder, KQMT 99.5 The Mountain, Denver Colorado

"Recall the melodic Sensibilities of both the Fab Four and Paul Simon . . . Starfuzz could easily move to the head of its class."
-Dave Herrera, Westword

"Great chemistry has enabled this Denver outfit to capture melodic, endearing songwriting"
-Elana Jefferson, The Denver Post

"Starfuzz takes a bold step in introducing a blend that combines age-old rock harmonies, wildly dissonant pop hooks and a steady rhythmic backbeat reminiscent of both ''60s psychedelia and ''70s arena anthems."
-Dave Haucke, Kaffeine Buzz

"The music of Starfuzz appeals at a high technical level. It''s intelligent, VERY well constructed and is absolute ear candy"
