A few years ago I was on a turbulent airplane ride and had one of those white-knuckle moments when two thoughts spontaneously flashed through my mind: 1) I’m not nearly as equanimous as I had fancied myself to be and 2) I wish I had shared my songs with my friends. Well after the plane safely landed I felt compelled to start recording the songs. The funny ones wound up on TALES OF THE INSECT WOMEN and the thoughtful ones are all on THE OTHER SIDE OF HOPE.
Guest singers on The Other Side of Hope include: RAIN PERRY, KERRI CLIMER, VIRGINIA LEE, JENNIFER HILL, ROBBIE SHEPPARD, PATRICIA CARDINALI, JULIJA ZONIC and LISA MANGIONE. Contributing musicians include: BRUCE WALKER on oboe, DEIRDRE WOOD on fiddle, YUE DENG on violin, NEIL McFADDEN on standup bass and LAURIE HOPE on the remaining vocals, acoustic and slide guitar, mandolins, flutes, drums, piano, and a few midi instruments. It was mostly recorded at home, then mixed and Mastered by SEAN INGOLDSBY at Real Time Studios in Ojai, CA.
All proceeds from The Other Side of Hope will go to either the NRDC(National Resources Defense Council for their environmental protection work) or The Marshall Legacy Institute which trains dogs to help clear landmines around the world. Great way to give a gift that keeps on giving!
