The Low Tide Drifters are an Americana band from Eugene, Oregon with deep roots in the cultural heritage of the Pacific Northwest. Influenced by artists such as Woody Guthrie, Utah Phillips, Guy Clark, John Prine, and Rosalie Sorrels, The Low Tide Drifters combine a love of folk, blues, and country music with original lyrics to produce their unique sound. Whether singing about Lake County loggers, a waitress trying to make it out of a stunted coastal economy, or fishing towns turned tourist traps, the Drifters are doing something few other bands are doing today—writing music that paints a picture of everyday working people.
The Low Tide Drifters have performed at many quality venues in the Willamette Valley area. As a socially conscious band, the Low Tide Drifters have also performed for union and community organizers, home healthcare workers, and social justice organizations. The Drifters are also establishing themselves on the festival circuit and will be playing the Sasquatch Microbrew Festival in June, 2009.

Members Bio:
Nathan Moore is a songwriter and guitar player who comes from a story-telling family. He grew up on tales of the Great Depression and his family’s journey from the Ozarks to the West Coast. He carries on this tradition by weaving these stories and experiences into his lyrics.
Kate Downing is a singing banjo player who grew up on the Oregon Coast. She takes her experiences from a working class, hymn-singing, country-music-listening, loud-joking family and puts them into the lyrics she writes with her husband, Nathan.
Dennis Soper, harmonica player, chose his instrument after seeing Sonny Terry perform. His musical influences are diverse, ranging from American roots music to free jazz. An Oklahoma native with deep roots in the Dust Bowl years, Dennis'' harp playing hearkens back to the legacy passed on to him from storytellers like his mother and to traditions created by the great musicians of her time and ours.
Mark Ross plays about a dozen instruments; guitar, banjo, fiddle, harmonica, mandolin, Hawaiian guitar, autoharp, jews'' harp, bass, dulcimer, tenor guitar, & 12-string guitar, all with varying degrees of proficiency. Over the years Mark has shared stages with Utah Phillips, David Bromberg, Ramblin'' Jack Elliot, John Hammond, Malvina Reynolds, Jerry Jeff Walker, Steve Goodman, Rosalie Sorrels, Faith Petric, Brownie McGhee & Sonny Terry, Dave Van Ronk, Hoyt Axton, Snuffy Jenkins & Pappy Sherrill, Spider John Koerner, The Rose Tattoo and many more.
Bayla Ostrach grew up in a working class family and is currently earning a Master’s Degree while filling in on back-up vocals and learning the washboard. Bay is new to folk music, but is absorbing the culture with gusto.
