When asked the reason for choosing the name STATE OF MIND the group replied, "Your mood determines what type of music you want to listen to at that time. If you''re in a mellow mood, you want something that will make you chill. If you are in a party mood, you want something that is hyped. I you are feeling a little close to the edge, you want something that is hard core and relates to that mood. It''s all dependent upon your STATE OF MIND."
Vincent Clark, AKA-SUPREME L, is the voice of conscience in the group. By blending reality with funky beats he is able to give the listener a melodic editorial of the human condition. His hype rhymes give the listener the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of a poet that has been jaded by a system that treats him as an outcast in his own country. In his voice you can feel his rage at today''s situation, while at the same time sense his hope for a better tomorrow. "Friends, Romans, Countrymen." lend an ear to SUPREME L''s rapumentary.
Billy Tutt, AKA-Daddy Zero, is the cooling force to the sweltering heat of the tracks laid down by this funky group. Just as the Lone Ranger had Tonto, Cisco had Poncho and Chico had the Man, Daddy Zero is the always-ready support to this Monument of Funk. He also provides some hype lyrics of his own, the type that demand you to hit the dance floor or at least bob your head in agreement.
Listening to STATE OF MIND may fall just short of a religious experience. There is definitely a sense of purpose within the music that could have only been bestowed by the Great Creator Himself. The group touches on every realm of human emotion causing you to laugh, cry, scream or just be silent. Whatever your response to their show, it is for sure that the only thing left to say at the end is "AMEN"!
