The members of Israel Bissell had been a very successful band throughout the 1980s. After years of performing they decided to go their separate ways, form new bands or enter into solo careers. The group had not preformed together in 25-years.
When they re-grouped, after a quarter of a century, it was as if they had never stopped playing together. Now, with further years of individual creativity and new instruments mastered, it was time to form a new group: Israel Bissell, and record a CD that combined the classic instrumentation and energy of vintage rock with beautiful acoustic and orchestrated pieces including the haunting love song "Angel Wings", the social awareness of "City by the Bay" and the hard-hitting "Monkey Wrench".
Those who have heard Israel Bissell compare them to the rock group Jethro Tull. This is due in part to the "alley-cat" sounding flute played by Chuck Preble, piercing lead guitar work of Mark Bacilla, and the complicated musical arrangements of the electric pieces off-set by the intricate acoustic pieces.
Israel Bissell harkens back to the days of classic rock, lyrical poetry and precise musicianship.
