SONGWRITING

Steve Wright the songwriter has written a collection of songs that are rooted firmly in the culture and heart of maritime traditions. From the landing of the Loyalists and the Golden Age of Sail, to the decline of the fisheries and the one industry towns, he has penned songs that grab the hearts and imaginations of all who hear them. Each song relives the emotions of the people and their conviction to survive even in the face of tragedy. This native Nova Scotian although new to the world of songwriting, has indeed found a passion that touches his audience in a real way.

"Steve''s songs evoke the deepest emotions and images of who we are as a people..."
Jim Hanlon singer/songwriter

PERFORMANCE

Steve Wright the performer is a local experience for audiences in north eastern Nova Scotia. Enjoying continued exposure at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, Sherbrooke Concert Series, and other local songwriter venues, he is ready to take his music to the larger maritime audience. A part time musician for many years he has gained the experience and maturity to deliver a passionate and soulful performance. The experience gained through sharing stages with international artists like Chuck Brodsky, Lennie Gallant, Aengus Finnan, J.P Cormier, and Dave Gunning has fired this new songwriter to wade deeper in the water.

"One of the great pleasures I''ve had as a festival director has been seeing Steve Wright one of our very own, take his place on our stages and show the world his gift."
Troy Greencorn, Artistic Director, Stan Rogers Folk Festival.
