Born in Quito, Ecuador, singer songwriter Joanne Vance, presents her first album Silencios Incómodos, a compilation of songs written during her time in Ann Arbor, MI, San Francisco, CA, Santiago de Chile and Quito, Ecuador. Vance mixes vibrant and intimate lyrics in Spanish with a textured sonority and suggestive harmony that blends pop-rock and jazz in a unique sound experience. Silencios Incómodos incorporates some of Ecuador’s best known musicians such as César Galarza (producer and guitarist), Ivis Flies (bass), Michel Ferré and Daniel Mancero (keyboards).
During her career, Joanne Vance has been invited to sing in projects along with Quito’s Metropolitan Symphonic Orchestra, and in experimental projects with drama director Peky Andino, and the dance company Frente de Danza in Ecuador.
Some of the artists that have influenced Vance´s work are: Fiona Apple, Ani Difranco, Meshell N´degeochello, Jeff Buckley, Aterciopelados, Fito Páez, Luis Alberto Spinetta and Pedro Aznar.
