Sunday Drive is an alternative-roots-rock-music group based in Dallas, Texas. Citing influences ranging from The Byrds to The Cure and from Tom Petty to Jeff Buckley, Sunday Drive has achieved its goal of creating music that is unique, engaging, and adaptive. The melodic sound of Sunday Drive can be as controlled as it can be chaotic, and as organic as it can be inventive. The band was formed in August 2002 by Jeffrey Gruber (guitar, vocals), Grady Don Sandlin (drum kit, vocals), and Clinton Hoyler (bass guitar, vocals). After sitting in at multiple performances and recording sessions throughout the previous months, Ryan Thomas Becker (guitar, keyboard, vocals) joined Sunday Drive permanently in the summer of 2003.
Sunday Drive released their first official studio recording, The Before And After Photos, in January 2004 on Special Session Recordings. The sound of The Before And After Photos captures the band''s music and energy in a way that Live At Poor David''s Pub and The Hico Recordings, their two previous releases, did not. This is largely due to the talent of recording engineer Justin Collins of Satisfactory Recording Company, with whom Sunday Drive spent the summer months of 2003 working on the record at his home studio in Denton, Texas. Collins''s input and experience mixed extremely well with the band''s vision, and the result was a raw, powerful 12 song album that truly defines the Sunday Drive''s style and represents the first benchmark in their young career.
