Sundrops (the flower): Sundrops can be found in old fields and on hillsides of the Edwards Plateau and the South Texas Plains. The plant predominately grows on sandy or rocky soil. Sundrops can reach a height of thirty-two inches. The flower has yellow petals with the center and stigma black or yellow. The diameter of the flower is between one to 2 inches. The protruding stigmas distinguish this species from the other species found in Texas.
The Sundrops (the band): The Sundrops can be found in and around the City of Lowell, MA. The Sundrops predominately play acoustic based pop/acoustic/folk-rock music, with interchanging male and female vocal harmonies that are highlighted by strong melodic hooks. Music that stands alone when performed by a solo singer/guitarist or with an entire band. Performing at the 2002, 2003, 2004 Lowell Folk Festival, 2003/2004 Lowell Winter Festival, a featured artist as part of the Lowell''s Singer Songwriter Series (2005), and selling out their 1st Demo CD within 2 weeks has gained the Sundrops local credibility and a strong following. The bands sound is made up of acoustic guitars, mandolin, a splash of electric guitar and piano, with drums that range from a single D''jembe to a full kit. It is this unique setup that has distinguished the Sundrops from other musical acts in the region. The diameter of the band is between 128 to 132 inches (depending on the time year). The height of the band is still unknown as they continue to grow at a rapid pace...
Currently, the band is focusing on supporting their debut CD "The Sundrops" (release April 2005), looking to gain industry attention at various festivals and showcases, making their live show as strong as possible, and continued growth of their following.
